Driving in the Lofotens

The roads are quite narrow, seldom a centreline but that makes sense as at times there is not enough room to pass so little turn outs are very prevalent and the speed limit varies from 50 to 60 even on the open road. Lines marking the sides of the road are all important and drivers are very polite giving a wave when you give way. The fastest we reached for the last 5 days was about 85 but most of the travelling was slower and very civilised. Apparently fines for speeding are horrendous so Norwegians take the limits seriously. Makes for attentive but pretty stress free motoring.
