The Harley advertises the English soldiers active in Afghanistan and Africa. The t shirt for this organisation cost a soldier his life in London outside the barracks when two Islamist fundamentalists hacked him to death a few days ago.

I made my objective a dash in the steady rain to catch a glimpse of the Thames. Fortune smiled upon me and I found a battered brolly in a rubbish bin which worked a treat

First time I’ve seen one but from photos I thought the pilot’s vision from the cockpit looked very restricted and surely it is. This aircraft built in the 1930’s was a highly successful long distance racer, only 6 were built.

Off I go…

I’m leaving on a jet plane, an A380 in fact, at 3 this afternoon. Leaving the stable cool air of Tassie to greet what will make it a third summer in one year.  I had to stop myself reading the story of QF3 while part way through as it was all getting too close to the bone…what an amazing story though, and an amazing aircraft. And if I make it, I’ll see if I can find Lizzie and Kate in London.
